China's top social scientific research organ, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), aims to cultivate more Ph.D.s and M.A.s for the country.
The CASS graduate school is urged to become the country's largest base for training social scientific scholars and high- level professionals, said Li Tieying, president of CASS and also the graduate school.
The fast economic growth and scientific and technological advancement require more and more social scientific experts, Li said.
He also called on research fellows in CASS to improve their teaching in the graduate school.
CASS originated from the philosophy and social sciences section of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1977, and established the graduate school the following year.
The graduate school, which produced nearly 5,000 Ph.D.s and M.A. s in the past 23 years, has six divisions -- philosophy, economics, law, literature, history and international issues -- and 38 departments, as well as more than 400 Ph.D. advisors and 600 M.A. advisors. |
