Teachers' Meeting Computerised in Shanghai

   When Yang Zupei, a primary school principal, attended a meeting recently he was given two compact discs instead of a pile of paper.

   He found all the information about the education working conference such as the agenda, papers to be presented were all contained in the two CDs.

   Xu Jianmiao, who also attended the meeting, told Xinhua that he was happy to receive the CDs rather than paper. "Meetings without paper save the time and keep the cost down," he said.

   Tong Ankang, deputy director of the Education Bureau of Luwan district in Shanghai, said such a meeting will also encourage the teaching staff to learn about the technology of information network.

   The bureau has before organized training sessions for teachers to improve their knowledge and skills of information, he added.
