Under the background of the EU 6th Framework Programme ( FP6 ) , the project of TEIN2 (The second Generation of the Trans-Eurasia Information Network initiated in Feb.2004. TEIN2 has three main objectives:

Increase direct Internet connectivity for research and education between Europe and Asia
Improve intra-regional connectivity within Asia
Act as a catalyst for the development of national research networking in the developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Third TEIN2 Technical Committee Meeting will be held in Beijing, China, 19-20 Sept. 2004. All representatives are to be invited to give brief statement of views of participation in Phase 2A and complete the Feasibility Study Report.
