2002-01-07
More foreign students choose to study in China
The number of Chinese students pursuing studies overseas has for a long time overtaken foreign students coming to China.

However, in recent years, we've seen more and more foreign students come to study in China and the year 2001 alone witnessed 50,000 foreign students to come here for study, a record high in China.

Majors they choose range from language study, short-term training to the pursuance for academic degree with more and more students intending to learn finance, economy and trade in China.

China's higher education quality on the rise
Sources of MOE said that the main reason for overseas students coming to China for study is that China is politically stable and economic perspective is optimistic.

In addition, with quality of high education being on the rise year by year, this has also arrested the attention of the international community.

According to CCTV report, the increase of foreign students will bring to Chinese education sector certain amount of earnings, last year in Beijing alone the revenue hit 900 million yuan.

As China has already joined the World Trade Organization (WTO), the ministry will also adjust its policies for attracting overseas students, such as for China to allow them doing odd jobs while studying in China.
