HK PolyU Aspires to Be Leading University in Asia
2001-01-01

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) will develop itself to be the leading university in Asia by the year 2007, a newly published strategic plan (2001-2007) of the university says.

The plan states that PolyU will enhance its leadership in four strategic focus areas in Hong Kong.

These four areas are: Health Enhancement; Product Design, Development and marketing; Professional and Executive Development on the Chinese Mainland; and Urban Sustainable Development.

Meanwhile, PolyU will position itself to be the leader and the preferred partner in education and research in Asia by dedicating to academic excellence in education and scholarship a professional context, the plan says.

PolyU is a rather young university in Hong Kong with a history of only 29 years. During the past 29 years, more than 187,000 students have graduated from PolyU and its predecessor, the Hong Kong Polytechnic.
