Beijing Hi-Tech Fair Ends With Record Gains

The China Beijing International High-Tech Industries Week (Fourth Session)- China Beijing International Sci-Tech Fair, which is widely known as the Beijing International Hi-Tech Week, came to an end here Tuesday.

The week-long hi-tech show witnessed record accomplishments for the participants, with agreements signed on 823 hi-tech projects worth a total of 7.92 billion US dollars, according to the organizer.

A total of over 800,000 people from China, international groups like the UN and the EU, and 50 foreign countries and regions took part in the exhibitions and talks, while traditional media and websites gave full coverage of the hi-tech fair, attracting millions of interested people.

All the major exhibition places were involved in the hi-tech show, with a total exhibition area of over 100,000 sq m. More than 2,000 companies from both at home and abroad were represented, including many firms among the world's "Top 500".

The hi-tech fair also opened a special show to display sports- related technology developed by China in an effort to show the Chinese people's aspirations for hosting the 2008 Olympics.

Meanwhile, private or non-government-funded inventors also found their own place to show off their products, which attracted many visitors and investors.

Ninety-five forums and lectures were held during the week, at which over 400 government officials, experts and scholars shared their views with a combined audience of 40,000 people on the development of hi-tech industries worldwide.
