Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is located in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) which is 80 km from Shanghai and a joint venture between China and Singapore. The University, opened its doors to its first intake of students in 2006, takes the best of Chinese and British Higher Education and creates a new experience for staff and students. XJTLU aims to supply graduates able to work in today's fast-moving global economy, and to provide an exciting cutting-edge research-led environment for its staff.
● You will oversee and direct the work of the Registry under the guidance of the Vice President (Academic Affairs)
● Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification you will have significant relevant experience, preferably gained in a UK Higher Education Institution.
● You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of providing strong leadership along with coaching and development of your staff.
● Operating at a senior level across the institution, you will be able to command the respect of senior management and academic colleagues when providing advice on relevant matters while establishing working relations across the organisation from the board to operational staff.
● With a diverse range of nationalities employed by the University the role holder will need to exercise a high degree of cultural awareness and diplomacy and work within a political environment.
● Your duties and responsibilities will include, liaising with appropriate personnel and offices of the University of Liverpool to ensure that the requirements of the University of Liverpool are met
● To ensure that appropriate account is taken within the University of the UK QAA and other regulatory requirements in the context of audit, accreditation and other arrangements, and to co-ordinate the central support provided to departments undergoing external professional accreditation;
● To ensure that the requirements of the University and external reporting bodies are met in terms of statistical reporting;
● To ensure appropriate support is provided for University Committees and working groups established to consider matters related to academic issues in the University;
● Excellent written and oral English communication skills, including the ability to communicate difficult messages are essential.
● There is no requirement for the successful candidate to be able to read or speak Chinese.
Terms and conditions
Salary is negotiable up to a GBP equivalent rate of £50k per annum. The initial post will be for a period of 3 years. Further benefits for ex-patriot staff relocating to China and includes, an accommodation allowance, a travel allowance, medical insurance and a relocation allowance.
