Host: Hello everyone! This is the China Education Network and CUCAS's co-sponsored interview about international students' life in Chinese university. Today we are very glad to have Pavel & Anna from Tianjin University of Technology  (abbreviation as TUT) be here sharing with us their experience in China. Welcome Pavel and Anna!

Anna, you have been in TUT for three years. Could you please share with us your study life in TUT?

Anna: No problem. Now I am studying Chinese as a undergraduate student in Tianjin University of Technology. Three years ago I began to study Chinese in TUT, The teachers here are very kind. They are always very patient and well experienced.

The teachers introduced me Chinese student as my language partner to help me learn Chinese, strengthen the communication skills and make me adapt the life in China. By the collision of different cultures, we can gradually understand the real Chinese culture.

Then I decided to study as a undergraduate student in TUT. This is a very challenging option for me to study with other Chinese students, but I am confident to comple the program. The curriculum has been adjusted to meet international students’ requirements.

Host: Pavel, you have been in TUT learning Chinese language for just six months. How do you feel like the learning environment in TUT?

Pavel: TUT has excellent teaching facilities, rich data resources and a comfortable learning atmosphere. The teachers of the college are all experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language , use flexible teaching methods and have obtained excellent achievements in teaching. The school has been recommended as the firest-choice school in north China by various publications for overseas learning both within China and internationally.

Host: How about the campus and surroundings?

Anna: The flats for overseas students are equipped with air-conditioning, a telephone, washer, and a separate washroom and kitchen. The surrounding environment has an abundance of supermarkets, Chinese and western restaurants, banks and coffee shops. Normally daily food cost is about RMB 20. Sometimes I cook in my dorm. The living expence in Tianjin is not expensive, about RMB 800 per month.

Pavel: The university is located in Tianjin city which is an excellent location for overseas students for its pleasant atmosphere and convenient conditions for learning stardard Chinese spoken language.

Host: In your opinions, what can be the characteristics of TUT?

Pavel: I studied Chinese in another Chinese university and I think the Chinese language program in TUT is excellent. Classes both in Chinese language and culture are carefully designed according the individual needs of each student, and are available at an affordable cost. They coordinate the training of basic skills as listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. In addition to the teaching of Chinese language, TUT offers a number of elective classes covering various aspects of traditional Chinese culture and art, including Chinese wushu, calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, seal cutting, egg carving, paper-cuts, and performance of ethnic musical instruments and drama.

Host: Cool! Learning in that way is fascninating. It will enlarge your knowledge in Chinese language.

Anna: Yes, we love that. Besides the courses, we have the opportunity to tour some of China’s most famous scenic and cultural sites, listen to the inspiring tales that accomany each site, and experience local folk customs and special foods.

Host: It is really attractive. Learning in TUT must have lots of fun. Well, that is all this interview. Thank you for coming. See you.
