Jan 1995, published Shenzhou Learning, the first electronic publication in Mainland China; built up China's first nationwide TCP/IP-based computer network with independent international gateways. August 1995, cutover of "Watery and Woody Tsinghua", the first BBS website in Mainland China. 1995, created the first batch of network information service resources and websites in China. March 1996, Tsinghua University and other partner institutions lodged ISO-2022CN, a Chinese permuted code standard, constituting Standard RFC1922, the first Internet standard advanced in Mainland China. 1996, completed China's first Internet link connecting Europe. 1998, CERNET homepage ranked Top 5% in Lycos Website Comparison. 1998, accomplished a batch of breakthroughs in technological area of computer network. 1999, built up and operated CCERT, the first network contingency response center in China. 1999, built up China's first IPV6 trial network, and joined 6REN. May 2000, CERNET signed an interconnection agreement with Internet2.
