With the school history of 112 years, Southwest Jiaotong University locates at Chengdu, Sichuan which is famous as "Land of Abundance". It has produced many elites with Mao Yisheng, Zhu Kezhen as the striking figure, and more than 40 academicians serving at CAS and CAE. Southwest Jiaotong University is the key university affiliated to the Ministry of Education, and also is the first batch of National "211 Project". There are 2,300 teachers, among whom 1,000 are professors and associate professors, 4 are CAS academicians, 3 are CAE academicians, 1 is chief scientist of "973', 1 is first prize winner of Cheung Kong Scholars Achievement Award, 6 are Cheung Kong Scholars, 7 are achievers of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation. Southwest Jiaotong University has 2 first level and 10 second level National key discipline, 24 Provincial and ministerial key disciplines,8 first level and 56 second level Doctoral program, 8 Post-doctoral research station, 134 Master program, 71 Undergraduate program and there is a national key lab-traction impetus lab, the only one of its kind in transportation field, and 27 Provincial and ministerial key labs.

2. Categories, Requirement and Treatment

(1) Discipline leading elites
Requirement:


Engaged in famous university or research institution (enterprise), aged on more than 50 years old, having important academic influence in the international academic field, having the ability to become the discipline leading elites in our university. The returned oversea talents should have the occupation of processor in foreign university or the equivalents. The domestic elite should have, in principle, fulfilled the term of employment period and evaluated as the excellent "Cheung Kong Scholars" Distinguished Professor or Guest Professor, or well-known scholars recognized both at home and abroad in the related areas, engineering experts, or well-known professors specialized at humanity and social sciences.

Treatment:

For the returned oversea talents:
a. Once employed, directly recognized as professor, doctoral tutor, employed as a professor of first or second degree and "Chief Professor"

b. Annual salary can be implemented, providing an annual salary of RMB 600,000 to 1,000,000 varying according to the different subjects (including tax revenue, bonuses of the specially established position and allowance from governments)

c. Start-up funds, office, laboratory and equipment will be guaranteed according to the necessity of scientific research, and specialized research institutes and research team will be set up whenever it is necessary

d. During the employment period, SWJTU will provide a set of rental housing of about 160 square meters (For those work for ten years continually, the housing property right to the employer.);If the spouse is suit for a position in SWJTU, the spouse will have the priority in employment; if not, SWJTU will allot monthly settlement allowance (no less than the local minimum wage standards, the provision last for three years). During the appointment period, if the spouse lives abroad, we will provide international travel fee annually; we will provide positive assistance to children's enrollment to school or kindergarten in Chengdu.

e. For foreign staff, SWJTU is responsible for applying the long-term work and residence permit in China; Commercial insurances will be provided.

For Domestic talents:

a. Once employed, directly awarded the title of professor, doctoral tutor, employed as first or second level professor and "Chief Professor"

b. Full-time employers will receive 150,000 bonuses for specially established position and other same treatment in SWJTU

c. Providing a settling allowance of RMB 200,000 for the full-time employers living outside campus ; providing a suit of house for free or 400,000~ 500,000 RMB as housing allowances; arranging work for spouse. For the full-time employer whose personnel files is not in SWJTU, a temporarily set of house will be provided for free.
