Talented young American-Chinese visit China

More than 20 talented young Americans of Chinese origin began a 10-day visit to China Friday, at the invitation of the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of the State Council and the China Overseas Exchanges Association.

Each of these high school graduates has won top-level academic awards in the United States. They will tour the cities of Beijing,Xi'an, Shanghai and Hangzhou. In Beijing they will visit Beijing and Qinghua universities and research institutes, and hold discussions with talented young Chinese.

Liu Zepeng, deputy head of the State Council office, met with the group Friday. He said that China's development and prosperity relied on the care, support and cooperation of foreign citizens ofChinese origin.

He hoped talented young people of Chinese origin all over the world would be envoys for friendship and contribute to China's rejuvenation and world peace and prosperity.
