First Audiovisual Products on Sex Education for Kids Issued
The TV series, Sex Education for Children in Primary and High Schools, was formally issued Friday in the form of video compact discs in South China's Hainan Province as a special gift for China's youth.

Jointly shot by the Central China University of Science and Technology and the Hainan Yongyu Filming and Cultural Communication Limited Company, the series is the country's first sex-related popular science TV program targeting young people.

The 10-lecture program teaches youngsters about basic sex knowledge, self-protection, sex hygiene and how to deal with theirdeveloping sexuality.

The series includes three editions namely the primary school edition, the junior high edition and the senior high edition.

For the time being, only the primary school edition has been published as a video compact disc.

As the TV series is specially made for children's psychology and is easy to understand, analysts said that the parents and school teachers would be spared the awkwardness that formerly accompanied sex education.

Among the 300 million juveniles in China, 20 million enter the sexually mature stage every year.
