杨锦宗，大连理工大学化工学院精细化工系教授。1932年8月生，1955年毕业于大连工学院化工系；1959年于大连工学院四年制副博士研究生毕业；1983～1984年在瑞士联邦高等理工学院ETHZürich做访问学者；1994年在美国University of California at Santa Cruz 做高级访问学者，1997年12月～1998年4月访问University of California at Berkeley et al。染料表面活性剂精细化工国家重点实验室前任主任，精细化工系学术带头人。曾兼任中国化工学会理事，中国化工学会精细化工专业委员会副主任委员； 《精细化工》、《精细与专用化学品》、《感光科学与光化学》、《化学与粘合》等多种期刊的主编或编委；北京工业大学、广东工业大学、苏州大学兼职教授；并被中国国家教育委员会和国家自然科学基金会列为中国大学知名科学家(《Directory of Selected Scientists of Universities and Colleges in China》Science Press,1996)／英国剑桥国际传记中心列入国际名人录(《International Leaders in Achievement》3rd Edition,1997)。
杨锦宗教授长期从事染料、表面活性剂和精细化工等方面的教学和科研工作，50年代末成套剖析合成世界上刚出现的活性染料和分散染料，推动了我国染料工业的高起点快速发展；此后开始对“染料-纤维-助剂”的相关性进行系统理论和实验研究，为提高固色率及降低污染开辟了一条新路；他还率先研究可反应性高分子染料，首次把染料在纤维上的固色率提高到99％以上，并在国内首先开展新型表面活性剂烷基糖苷的研究和生产。多年来，杨锦宗共获国家及省部级科技进步奖8项，获5项国内外发明专利，发表研究论文300余篇，指导博士后8名、培养博士生和硕士生百余名。2001年，杨锦宗教授被评为中国工程院化工、冶金与材料工程学部院士。
