2001-12-28
The army's University of National Defence (UND) has been conducting active academic exchanges with overseas countries and regions since this supreme college of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was set up in 1985.

By now, a total of 9,251 overseas scholars in 1,073 groups have travelled to UND for academic exchanges. During the first eleven months this year alone, the university has received more than 80 groups of scholars from around the world.

Meanwhile, the military university also sent 1,055 teachers and students in 271 groups to study abroad.

Earlier, UND has successfully held the 4th President Conference of National Defence Universities -- an international meeting attended by university chiefs from 21 countries.
