Macao College Graduates Like to Be Teachers: Survey
2001-08-28

Teachers are the most popular  profession for this year's college graduates in Macao, according  to a sample survey.

The survey, made recently by the Macao Students' Federation,  shows that about 40 percent of the college graduates who have been employed will kick off their career as teachers.

More than one third of the students are still reportedly  jobless, which indicates that the Macao job market is not very  encouraging.

According to the survey, 41.7 percent of the students will have regular jobs, while 21.7 percent could only find part-time jobs.

The lack of working experience and professional knowledge makes it difficult for the students to be employed. In addition, some  college graduates complain that the salaries for them are too low.

A total of 123 graduates from various institutions of higher  learning in Macao were surveyed by phone.
