Tsinghua University Hosts Forum for High School Heads

"The 21st Century High School Headmasters' Forum", hosted by Tsinghua University, was inaugurated here Friday, as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 90th founding anniversary of one of China's top higher-learning institutions.

Almost 300 headmasters from high schools in all parts of the country are attending the four-day meeting, along with a number of government officials and educators.

The participants will share views on three topics: "quality education", "measuring and evaluating education" and "modern technology in education".

Gu Binglin, deputy president of the university, gave the opening address, saying that, while making efforts to become a world-class university, Tsinghua is paying great attention to and giving support for basic education.

According to official figures, over the past 20 years, 39,156 people have graduated from the university with bachelor'sdegrees, 14,181 with master's degrees and 2,436 with doctorates.
